The great battles

Throughout the weekend, the majority of battles will take place in the main arena named Vigrid (in reference to the plain where the final battle of Ragnarok will take place). All the battles in this arena are always group battles; there are no solo battles here.

During these niches, which are the main activity of the event, there will be 2 types of battles:

Circles without honour

To warm you up and get to know each other on Friday and Saturday mornings, we're offering a game that we're particularly fond of.

The Viking battle royal. No salutes, no civility, no honour... Just one objective: to be the last group of fighters still alive in this battle where everyone is fighting for their lives.

There are more and more of us taking part every year, so it's no longer possible to have a circle without honour with all the groups in Vigrid at the same time. We therefore organise several sessions where we rotate the groups so that everyone can take part and warm up.

Shooting weapons not authorised and shields on the back not compulsory! The ratios of weapons and protection must be respected in each group.

Major standard battles

For the Major Battles, registered groups are split into 2 armies to battle it out on Vigrid. Between 2 battles, the orga may switch groups from one side to the other in order to balance the 2 armies, making the battles all the fiercer! Rest assured, however, that we make it a point of honour never to separate a group that has signed up together. You joined together, you'll fight together!

The Great Battles take place in sessions composed as follows:
- 8 battles WITH hast weapons and WITHOUT throwing/shooting weapons
- 8 battles WITH hast weapons and WITH throwing/shooting weapons
- 4 battles WITHOUT hast weapons and WITHOUT throwing/shooting weapons
The 2 armies fight half the battles and then swap sides. Numbers may vary depending on general fatigue and time remaining.

Between each session, a break is taken to allow the fighters to rest and hydrate.

Important point to know: Depending on the rules or activities, in order to vary the combat experience, we may or may not authorise throwing/shooting weapons during certain battles. The same applies to hast weapons (spears and danaxes), which may be temporarily banned. You will therefore need to bring a one-handed weapon (sword, scram or axe) to these battles.
During these battles without hast (and only during these battles), the limitations per group on the quantity of one-handed weapons are also removed, so you can have as many warriors with swords or sabres in your group as you need.
